Herald Fishing: Raggies on the bite
The fishing has been good up and down the coast so pick your day and get out there.
Ragged tooth sharks and diamond skates have been on the bite, as have the edibles, with there being a good run of kingfish.
Live karanteen are a great bait for these fish.
While a live bait is the first choice when targeting kingfish, the next best thing is a well-presented squid bait.

Squid (baby squid), neatly presented on a hook with enough floatation, is the perfect bait for the smaller kingfish and will not be resisted by a stumpnose, either.
Fish with this on the edge of a sandbank, or the working water in the deeper sections of the beach, for the best results.
Offshore fishermen have had a good time of it, with the more settled weather and the abundance of dorado.

Reports of a lot of bass being caught in most of the dams on the coast and inland.
Anglers fishing for bass have been having a lot fun in the past few days as it was very warm and bass feed a lot on a hot day.
