Herald Fishing: Cracking start for fishermen in 2020

Reports are in of shad on the bite at various beaches from Umzumbe down to Port Edward.

With schools being in full swing and the usual morning traffic being chaos, it pays to get out early and fish.

This means you beat traffic and get to see the sun come up. Not a bad way to start the day.

The fishing has been very productive in most of the facets over the last few weeks.

The sea has been friendly on most days and allowed the guys to launch or fish without too much hassle.

The year has started off well for us fishermen, let us hope it keeps on rolling.

The inedible anglers have been going dilly over the hot weather and north-easterly winds that have been blowing.

These conditions bring prime big fish angling.

The competitive anglers showed that the diamond skates and sandsharks are around.

With the shad and grey sharks in the area, it is advisable to use a wire bite trace to avoid losing a good fish.

With all the rain we had and lots more to come the rivers will come down.

Lots of kob will be feeding in the discoloured water.

Bronze bream and stone bream will also be frenzy and cracker shrimps(mud prawns) will be the best bait to target them.

Anglers fishing for bass have been having a lot fun in the past few days as it was very warm and bass feed a lot on a hot day.

The offshore fishing has been very good over the past few weeks.

The fishable days have definitely made up for the miserable weather and big seas that have limited the amount of days on the water.
