Malherbe and Myburgh make magic at Margate CC

There were some new faces on the podium this week.

The ladies of Margate Country Club got golf proceedings underway this week, playing an individual point scoring surprise format.

Winning the day on 48 points were Hilary Hendry and Lexley Lewis.

Second place went to Lizzie Meyer and Chiappini Boshoff with 43 points.

The Wobblers had a good turn out on Wednesday and they played a fourball alliance with two to count on par fours and three to count on par threes and fives.

Louis Gouws, Frank Merrill, Hans Dallinger and Peter Hunter won the day with 104 points.

Second place went to Johan Hulshof, Wimpie Jordaan, Thys Bothma and Rod O’Farrell on 102 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Connie Conrad, Hans Beilhartz, Jan Beilhartz and Brian Jeffreys with 88 points.

The Thursday Margate pro shop competition day was played in an individual point scoring format and won by Alan Davies with 33 points.

Sydney Shingange secured second place on 32 points.

Nearest to the pin on the 4th hole went to the competition winner Alan Davies, while Robin Shuttleworth secured closest to the pin on the 11th.

Saturday saw the ladies play a threeball alliance with two to count and it was won by Connie McArthur, Grace Fourie and Lexley Lewis with 69 points, on a countout.

Coming second were Hilary Hendry, Margaret Taylor and Sandi Johnston, also on 69 points.

The men played in a betterball Stableford format and Pierre Malherbe and Robbie Myburgh were the victorious pairing on 45 points.

Koko Zithumane and Ronnie Mtshaka came second with 44 points, while Robin Shuttleworth and Sean Baker secured third place on 43 points.

Nearest to the pin on the 4th and 11th holes went to Dolf Willemse and Pierre Malherbe respectively.
