Lanka’s captain’s knock sets promising tone for season
The team looks to have hit the ground running this season.
The Southern KwaZulu-Natal cricket team had a great start to the Premier League 50 Over League when they beat African Warriors by a whopping 148 runs.
Southern KZN travelled to Kingsmead in Durban for their first fixture of the season.

They lost the toss and were sent in to bat on a very soft and unpredictable pitch.
They were in trouble early on at 17-2.
Morné Bishop and captain Meshan Lanka anchored the innings and then dominated, putting on a 120 run partnership.
Southern KZN made 267 in the allotted 50 overs.
Lanka top-scored with 94, while Bishop made 63.
Ashley Lombard chipped in with a valuable 42.
African Warriors then went into bat and crumbled to 121 all out, thanks to good bowling from youngster Travis Truter, who took 2-14 upfront.
Sajid Tai ran through the middle order, taking 3-19.
“It was a good start to the season for us and a big statement to the Durban clubs to take the South Coast boys seriously. We want to be a force to be reckoned with,” said Lanka.
Southern KZN play Berea Rovers at Port Shepstone Country Club this Sunday (19th).
