It’s all systems go again

THERE was a lot of activity at the club this week and the first of the ever popular mixed 2-4-2 monthly competition was played for the year.

The hot weather did put off many from playing but the recent mixed 2-4-2 games were really well attended.

The winner of the January competition was the team of Byron and Sue Mathias from Umkomaas BC, with a score of 4+30 and they won vouchers from Scottburgh Country Club.

The runners-up were the Sezela side of Sandy O’Donoghue and Dave Wood with 4+27 and they took away vouchers from the Blue Marlin Hotel.

Second session winners were the local side of Lyn Seymour and Jurie van Vuuren with 2+15, and they won vouchers from The Coffee Lounge.

Congratulations to all who played, especially the winners and those that came second, and our thanks to the sponsors.

Hope that we will see you all again on Friday, February 21 for the next mixed 2-4-2 competition.

There are no further monthly competitions remaining in January, but the ‘famous Scottburgh Fifth’ is scheduled for Wednesday, January 29 (afternoon), which is a mixed trips numbers format challenge.

This competition is a lot of fun but remember please only one skip per team.

So, please register your interest and put your team on forms on the club notice board.

It is also intended to start again the action bowls, a competition which will take place over five consecutive Friday evenings (a 5.30 muster for a 6pm start) to start on February 14.

Any company or group interested in submitting a team, then please contact our secretary.

Please remember that the weather is very hot and humid, so take plenty of liquids and fluids, and be careful out there.
