Visitors dominate and madam secretary pulls rank
It was great to see Mike Carr walk into the club last Wednesday after recently falling through a roof at his home.
THE Bell & Anchor 2-4-2 women’s competition will revert to nominated teams now that the festive season is over and bowlers are settling into their normal routines.
Engela Wehr and Claire Wilhelm lost the second session on a countout against winners Annatjie Kidd and Marietjie van Wyk, both teams finishing on 2+9.

Sandy O’Donoghue and Sandy Davis were runners-up, scoring 4+16 behind overall winners Rose Daniel and visitor Rita Browne on 4+22.
Linda Stead pulled rank and was very explicit in ensuring the women played both their sessions on the cooler top green, after playing on the lower green in the previous competition. Well done madam secretary!
The low score of 2+4 was enough for Peter Woolcock and Steve Stead to win the men’s second session prize.
The evergreen Geoff Donaldson and Chris Adendorff, on 4+6, were runners-up behind the AMBC pair of Mike Davis and Fred Hutchins, who scored a commendable 4+17.

Ian Adam, Sandy O’Donoghue, Jenny Wadeley, Pam Lyon and Sue Padgett were kind enough to supply the most enjoyable tea time snacks.
The men’s league team managed to get two points away against log leaders, The Bell.
The last league game will be played on February 8 at home against Margate.
The extreme hot weather we have had in the past weeks has reduced competition entries with many bowlers waiting for temperatures to drop.
For this reason our usual full house of 28 teams was reduced to a field of 18 for Monday’s mixed trips event.

Specialists advised he be fitted with a brace for a few weeks rather than take the surgery route.
The brace worked and Mike is well on the mend.
Tony Beukes is also in high spirits and has told his golf and bowling mates he will soon be back on ‘course and green’.
Sezela Bowling Club welcomed experienced bowlers Steve and Sue Padgett as full members.
The fun loving couple have blended in extremely well on the bowling green and socially. We wish them a long and happy stay.
