No ‘parking off’ for Bupen

He thanked his parkrun family for their motivation over the past year.

Last year, Marburg resident Bupendra Prakash decided he was going to lead a healthier lifestyle, but was unsure how to get started.

Then he came across an article in the South Coast Herald on the Uvongo parkrun.

He registered, and completed his first parkrun on February 2.

The bug had bitten, and Bupendra has not missed a Saturday since.

“I achieved my first milestone of 50 parkruns in less than a year,” he said proudly.

He thanked his friends and parkrun family for their motivation over the past year.

“Parkrunners are friendly people of all ages and fitness levels who go out of their way to make visitors feel welcome.

“The route is scenic and enjoyable and I am so pleased I have made the effort to take part.”

Bupendra has also joined a gym, is a handicapped golfer and is a member of Pro Vision Golf and Social Club, all of which he has achieved since February last year.

He encouraged people to stay healthy.

“Make some time to join the parkrun community, where you only compete with yourself and no one else. Meet at St Michael’s beach at 8am”
