Junior players learn skills

They are taught to play rugby in a safe and enjoyable environment.

The South Coast Warriors Rugby Club has undertaken to teach future rugby players, aged from U7 to U18, the skills and techniques necessary to play the game both safely and with enjoyment.

Coach Theo Nicholls said the touch/tag games, 40 metre dash, kicking and tackling sessions were all designed to get the young players moving and having fun as they learn.

“The practice for juniors teaches them correct basic technique for holding, catching, tackling, passing and kicking the ball.

“We practice at the Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground every Wednesday and Friday from 5pm to 6.30pm, with match days on Sundays.”

Parents who want their children to learn the game can register at the club on the above-mentioned days.
