Adventure awaits at Valley View Trail

Pre-entries close this Friday (7th) at noon, but on the day entries will be available on the morning of the event (surcharge of R50 applies, U18s exempt).

THE KwaZulu-Natal Trail Running team is heading back into the heart of the Umkomaas Valley for the 4th running of Valley View Trail next Sunday.

It brings a sense of adventure and escape for every seeker and promises to entice every trail enthusiast.

The property was initially purchased with the intention of establishing citrus orchards, but after being introduced to trail running, Mike Woodburn (owner) knew this gem needed to be shared.

The beauty of Valley View Trail lies in its raw and wild nature, bringing participants a sense of adventure without the need of long journeys.

The venue is only an hour from Durban and 45 minutes from Pietermaritzburg, making it accessible for those needing a break from the urban bustle.

Participants will be taken through wild valley bushveld on purpose-built trails deep into the valley where the raw beauty of farmlands and veld awaits, with views of the red cliffs and snaking Umkomaas River.

The event offers three courses of 5km, 12km and 21km allowing participants to choose what would best suit them.

The long and medium courses provide a true trail challenge on technical but flowing trails, while the short course is more welcoming for trail debuts with your family and friends.

In line with the rural setting, facilities at valley view are rustic, but adequate and the sense of place gives this event a ‘wow’ factor.

The race village will be set adjacent to the banks of the Umkomaas River, allowing you to take in the beauty of the surrounds.

A team of friendly vendors will be onsite to cater for your every need – quality meals with vegan and vegetarian options available, refreshing craft cordials and strong coffee brews.

A massage therapist will be on site to help loosen muscles post-trail and TrailShed’s pop-up shop will help you with any gear requirements.

Keeping with the family vibe of our events, scholars’ entries are heavily discounted (more than 50 percent off) and the KZNTR KidZone will be on site, providing a complementary service for the children of participants.

Experienced and friendly childminders will keep the little ones (two years and older) safe and occupied with stimulating activities, bringing peace of mind to parents while on course.

Pre-entries close this Friday (7th) at noon, but on the day entries will be available on the morning of the event (surcharge of R50 applies, U18s exempt).
