Herald Fishing: Rock and surf are fishing well
Bream and a wide array of summer flat fish have been testing tackle and backs.
The weather has been fairly favourable for all the facets over this last week and everyone has been able to get out and enjoy their favourite pastime.
The sea has been flat and the sun has been out, but the reports have been slow to filter in, meaning that hopefully the guys are too busy catching fish to let us know.

The rock and surf fraternity is doing very well with bream and the wide array of summer flat fish that have been testing tackle and backs. The chiropractors are very happy and hope the summer season continues.
Reports of bronze bream, stone bream and rock cod still feeding well (to everyone’s surprise).
Chokka is by far the best all-round bait for all of these fish, but make sure your box also has a good supply of prawns and sealice for targeting the stumpies on the deeper banks.
A couple of kob have been landed but the shad have been a bit slow.
The hound sharks have made their appearance and they do give a very good fight. These sharks are mainly targeted towards the afternoon going into the night and mainly caught at deep points.
Preferred baits for catching hound sharks are mackerel, red eye, chokka and mullet.
The freshwater scene has been excellent. The warm weather has most of the dams packed with boaters, swimmers and fishermen.
Bass are wild at the moment in the warm weather. Anglers fishing from the kick boats and boats have been getting most of the action as they have been able to access the more remote areas of the dams.
Lots of tilapia being caught on live worms.
Please remember to leave the areas that you fish in a better condition than when you got there. Take a few moments to pick up some litter and take it to the nearest bin.
