Off the Hook: What a whopper for skipper Adriaan

The skipper of Wave Dancer, Adriaan Westraat, was lucky enough to reel in a big and beautiful 29.5kg musselcracker.

SEVERAL decent-sized couta have been caught of late, along with a variety of tuna species and dorado.

Yellowfin tuna are still on the bite on the mid South Coast, and some musselcracker were landed over the weekend.

The skipper of Wave Dancer, Adriaan Westraat, was lucky enough to reel in a big and beautiful 29.5kg musselcracker.

Please do keep in mind that licensed anglers are not allowed to catch more than one black musselcracker per day.

Young Reynhard Naude shows the 15kg yellowfin tuna caught from boat Wotalotigot.

They are slow-growing fish which makes them extremely vulnerable to fishing pressure.

These fish are found along the South African coast from the Western Cape to KwaZulu-Natal.
