Things are warming up at Scottburgh Bowling Club

Another sequence of action bowls commences soon.

THE Scottburgh Fifth competition played on Wednesday, January 29, was well attended and a great deal of fun, as usual.

The Blue Marlin Hotel sponsored this competition and it was much appreciated by all players and the club.

This time, winners were the local side of Bill and Glenis Widdison and Jenny Laight.

Runners-up were the side of Peter and Ann Williamson and Dave Wood.

Second session winners were Trevor Springer, Gay Symonds and Alistair Shaw, whilst first session prize-winners were Johan Burger and Jan and Marie Vosloo.

It was a really great afternoon and all players enjoyed the ‘numbers format’ mixed trips games.

The next ‘fifth’ will be on Wednesday, April 29, so there is some time left for those interested to make up a team, but remember only one skip per team please.

Congratulations go to all the winners and sincere thanks to the Blue Marlin for the sponsorship.

Looking ahead to next month, we have the ladies 2-4-2 on February 5; the mixed trips on February 7, the men’s 2-4-2 on February 13 and the mixed 2-4-2 on February 21.

Another sequence of action bowls will commence on Friday, February 14.

This is a fun competition which will stretch over five consecutive Friday evenings (5.30pm muster for a 6pm start).

Anyone (company or group) interested in submitting a team, please contact secretary Eunice Stockton for details.

In this frequently very hot and humid weather can be draining on the body, so please drink plenty of liquids and be careful out there.

Keep taking the grass.
