THERE have been a lot of bottom fish coming out along the South Coast lately.

A number of rock and surf fishermen battled to get a good bite too while one or two managed to land bronze bream.

Shad are still reportedly in the area but more towards the Amanzimtoti side.

Hardly any boats launched last weekend due to some rough sea conditions, with strong currents and north easterly winds.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the Umkomaas river mouth opened last Friday, a very rare and most welcome Valentine’s Day treat.
