The last week of February proved to be a busy one for the club.

On Thursday, it was the men’s 2-4-2 and winners were the home team of Eddie Taverna and Franco Mason on a score of 4+16.

Scottburgh teams took the remaining honours with Brian Knight and Peter Parker as runners-up with a score of 4+14 and session prize went to Clive Holmes and Brian van Rooyen on 2+17.

Last Friday afternoon’s Twilight Bowls had to be cancelled due to rain, but a brand new competition entitled ‘Last Man Standing’ was held on Saturday.

The competition was organised by Dave Wood and took the format of one-on-one until only a few players were left to fight it out.

The winner was Johan Buys and Avril Smith came in as a worthy runner-up. Third prize was won by Ian Stockton.

On a sad note, we received the news that club member Ron Jutte died last Saturday morning after an illness that he fought so bravely.

Condolences go to Gay and the family at this sad time. Ron will be sorely missed.
