Herald Fishing: Bait up for Paddock Fishing Compo
There's a family vibe at the event, so no alcohol permitted.
The annual Paddock Fishing Compo will take place from March 27-29 this year.
There’s R150 000 worth of prizes waiting to be won.
At least 30 fully stocked dams will be made available for fishing.
There will be loads of lucky draws, including a main cash prize of R4000 and two of R1000.

Tickets cost R80 each and each ticket qualifies one for the lucky draws.

The freshwater scene has been going well for the bass, trout and carp fishermen alike.
There have been big bass landed, large trout gracing the net and some fat carp steaming line off the reel.
The trout fishing is picking up speed rather quickly and the fish pictures are causing large amount of drool.
The still waters are the place to be at the moment.
The rivers have been producing quality fish but the rapidly fluctuating water levels have made the choice of where to fish a bit of a problem.
The fish are still in their summer feeding mode, so make the most of it and get out to your nearest water.
If the water is dirty, use a darker lure. If the water is clearer, use a brighter/lighter lure.
In general, fishing over the past week has been fantastic for the shore and offshore anglers.
There have been some real quality fish boated on most vessels.
Reports are in of tuna and couta coming out all along the coast and anglers boasting about their catches.
With the weather being consistent now is the time to get down to the beach and wet a line.
The rock and surf scene has seen a flurry of summer fish over the past week.
There are reports of anglers who have been smashing the smoothound sharks in the night.
Mullet, mackerel and chokka are the baits of choice when targeting these fish.
Lots of crayfish are being caught and anglers remember to buy your crayfish licence.
