SNOEK have been plentiful for those those fishing offshore and along the backline.
These fish can reach lengths of up to 200cms although most don’t exceed 75cms.
They feed on crustaceans, cephalopods and smaller fish such as anchovies and pilchards.

They form schools near the bottom or mid-water and sometimes near the surface at night.
A few dorado and tuna have also been caught here and there.
Those fishing rock and surf landed a couple of bronze bream and reeled in a few inedibles, including some honeycombs.

• The annual Paddock fishing compo takes place from March 27 to 29, with the emphasis on a fun family weekend.
Please take note that NO private alcohol is allowed, but there is a bar facility at the Paddock Farmers Club. No pets are allowed either.
Prizes worth R150 000 are waiting to be won and there will be loads of lucky draws, including a main cash prize of R4 000 and two of R1 000 each. Tickets cost R80 and each ticket qualifies the holder for the lucky draw prizes.
Arm bands, for entrance into the club grounds and dams, cost R20 for over 18s and R10 for under 18s.
The briefing takes place at the farmers’ club on Friday, March 27 at 7pm.
