Sabiha selected to represent KwaZulu-Natal
The March monthly medal was played in windy conditions and the scores were a mixed bag.
MEMBERS are incredibly proud of Sabiha Bacaus who has been selected to represent KZN at the upcoming Inter-provincial 72-hole tournament to be played at Plettenberg Bay in April.
The announcement of the teams was made at the KZN Champs prize-giving and the loud cheers when Sabiha’s name was called, as well as the many congratulations afterwards, are an affirmation of her popularity and the high regard she is held in by the ladies golfing community.

It was a tale of two golf courses for the KZN Champs held at Durban Country Club this year.
A week ago, the bronze champs were held in appalling wet conditions and congratulations must go to Karen Lithgow and Evija McKelvey who competed despite being soaked to the bone.
Sabiha and Natalie Singer competed in the KZN Champs at the same venue, played over 36 holes in the heat on Sunday.
Local knowledge seemed to be a distinct advantage as the ladies from Durban CC cleaned up.
Sabiha fared well in her first champs in the gold division, finishing in the top half of the field.
Natalie’s day was mixed but she managed a top 10 finish in the silver division.
Sabiha and Evija will be competing in the matchplay competition, which started on Monday this week.

Bruce Sutcliffe won the B division with 37 points and his nett 69 was also enough to crown him Monthly Mug winner too.
A division was won by Jacques Kirstein on 33 points with Barrie Taylor coming in second on 31 points.
The B division runner-up, on a count-out was Dave ‘Mr Consistent’ Kemp.
The C division was won by Ken Koster on 32 points with Bing Opie’s 30 points enough to come in second.
The ladies division was won by Natalie Singer on 34 points and her 29 putts bagged her the ‘least putts’ bottle of wine.
Sabiha Bacaus came in second.
It was lovely to see eight ladies contesting this month and we look forward to seeing the ladies section grow from strength to strength.
The Wednesday competition was played by 24 players and Pete Vermaak emerged victorious on 37 points, counting out Karen Lithgow also on 37 points. Mike Lithgow’s 34 points was enough to take third place.
A friendly reminder that the club will be hosting a St. Paddy’s Day celebration at the club on Tuesday, March 17.
