Off the Hook: Dorado make for great angling

There were reports of several magnificent specimens landed further down south, making offshore fishing rather fruitful.

SOUTH Coast anglers fishing offshore have had tight lines and screaming reels for the past few days.

Snoek continue to be plentiful, and dorado have joined the party, coming out their numbers and in a variety of sizes.

There were reports of several magnificent specimens landed further down south, making offshore fishing rather fruitful.

Reports were also received of couta being in the area.

Rock and surf fishermen have had some luck with bronze bream over the past week, as well as with brown skates and sandies.

Two competitions are coming up, but MAY be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak so please contact organisers at the numbers given to confirm.

• The Umkomaas Ski-boat Club will host the regional interclub from March 28 to 30. Call 083-2849104 or email umkomaassbc@gmail.com for more information.

• The annual Paddock fishing compo takes place from March 27 to 29. Prizes worth R150 000 are waiting to be won and there will be loads of lucky draws, including a main cash prize of R4 000 and two of R1 000 each.

Tickets cost R80 and each ticket qualifies the holder for the lucky draw prize.

Arm bands for entrance into the club grounds and dams cost R20 for over 18s and R10 for under 18s.

The briefing takes place next Friday, March 27 at 7pm.
