GOLF-CHAT: Nikki Gutzeit – from the fairways to CrossFit fanatic (WATCH)
She doesn't play much golf nowadays, having been to college in the States and turned pro in the past. However, her days are busy with her roles as 'super' mom, estate agent with Tyson Properties, and fitness fanatic.

Who introduced you to golf? My mom and dad play but my mom was our biggest role model as she was a very good golfer and professional.

Clubs have you been a member at? Port Shepstone Country Club.
First golf course you ever played at? Port Shepstone CC.

Career highlights? Being selected to be a member of the Ernie Els Foundation, and being awarded a full golf scholarship to Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, in the US. Then turning professional and playing on the Duramed Futures Tour.
Golf course you would love to play? Leopard Creek, without a doubt!
Schools attended? Creston College, Port Shepstone High and LSU.
How would you describe your swing? A natural, of course.
Most famous person outside of golf you have met? Caddied for comedian Bill Murray in a PGA Pro-Am in New Orleans.
Best known golfer you’ve met or played with? Ernie Els.
Holes in one? 1. In Florida.
Albatross? Yes, I think I’ve had two, maybe.
Fourball of choice? Trevor Noah, my twin sis’ Mel, my hubby Shane and myself.

Favourite meal and drink? Too many favourites, that’s my problem – I love pasta, pizza, braai, prawns/lobster, plus G&T or a good red wine.
Favourite thing to watch on TV? Safari Live is my favourite at the moment. I miss the bush so much – especially during this lockdown.
Countries you have been to? United States, Morocco, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Puerto Rico and France.
Non-golfing historical figure you would like to meet or have met? I always wished I could have met Mandela.

What song gets you onto the dance floor? Dance Monkey: Tones & I.
Player you’d choose to hole a 6 foot putt to save your life? Any of the players on the LPGA Tour.
Luckiest shot that mattered? I’m almost sure I hit a thin shot that skimmed over water and ended up stiff to the pin to save par!

One shot or round or moment you’d like to be able to take over? Winning a matchplay match to help win a team event in college.
Ever broken a club, what happened? Nope, I’m such a goodie two-shoes.
Any injuries you’ve had to overcome? Nope.
Funniest thing you have ever seen or experienced on golf course? I cannot remember, to be honest.

What irritates you most in golf? Slow play.
Worst advice received? Head up and force!
Tell us something about yourself not many people know? I am a CrossFit addict now, and can squat 110kg (well, that’s my PB). Dynamite comes in small packages they say!
What’s next for you? Trying to master motherhood right now – thank goodness golf taught me patience!
