GOLF-CHAT: Altaaf Bux – charting his own course
He's got one of the silkiest swings you'll ever see. With a B Com degree under his belt he's now seeing how far he can go in a pro golf career.

Nickname? Halaal.

Who introduced you to golf? My father, Ayoob.
Clubs have you been a member at? Port Shepstone CC, Wild Coast CC, Durban Country Club, Country Club JHB and Royal Durban GC.
Earliest memory of playing golf? Being hit with a golf ball at Sheppie on the 9th hole.
Career highlights? Selected for the KZN Country Districts team as an amateur. Earned card for Sunshine Tour.
Golf course you would love to play? Augusta.
Schools attended? Port Shepstone Islamic School.
How would you describe your swing? Confusing at the best of times. (That’s not even remotely true, he has one of the most aesthetically pleasing swings you’ll ever see.)
Best known golfer you’ve met or played with? Met Gary Player, twice actually.
Holes in one? 1. Sheppie 8th hole.
Albatross? Modderfontein GC 1st hole.
Fourball of choice, amateur and pro? Pro – Tiger Woods, Louis Oosthuizen and Rory McIlroy; amateur – just myself and Trump, to get in his head.
Favourite meal? Sugar beans and roti (flatbread).
Favourite thing to watch on TV? Formula 1.
Countries you have been to? Does Zimbabwe count? Seriously though, I’ve been blessed to have been able to travel a bit. One highlight was playing St Andrew’s in Scotland, where I holed my second shot on the par four 5th hole.
Non-golfing historical figure you would like to meet or have met? Khabib Nurmagomedov (UFC fighter from Russia).
What song gets you onto the dance floor? Akon Smack That.
Player you’d choose to hole a 6 foot putt to save your life? Pro – Tiger Woods; amateur – do I have to? Ha ha. Maybe Graham Fabricius if it’s at Sheppie!
Luckiest shot that mattered? They never seem to have mattered, unfortunately.
One mulligan – a shot or round or moment you’d like to be able to take over? Too many to choose from.
Ever broken a club, what happened? A few in anger, let’s leave it there!
Any injuries you’ve had to overcome? Nothing serious.
Funniest thing you have ever seen or experienced on golf course? Once saw someone mistakenly drive a golf cart into a pot bunker.
One thing or rule you’d like to change in golf if you could? Remove the reload for out bonds, drop for penalty at the point of entry.
Best and worst advice received? Best – go for it; worst – have a plan B.
