Springbok centre Jesse Kriel has been clocking up his lockdown training sessions in hilly Hibberdene.
In fact, judging by his Instagram posts, Kriel’s lockdown workouts seem pretty intense.
He begins with a three kilometre warm-up, followed by 10 x 500 metre sprints and lastly, a two kilometre warm down.

The 26-year-old has played 46 tests for his country and 70 Super Rugby matches for the Bulls.
He was part of the Springboks’ 31-man World Cup squad in 2019 but suffered a tournament-ending hamstring injury in South Africa’s opening match against the All Blacks.
Kriel told the Herald he is now injury-free and he played half a season for the Canon Eagles in Japan until the coronavirus pandemic hit.

He has spent the lockdown with his girlfriend, Hope Mortimer, on her family’s farm in Hibberdene, where he has been able to run and keep active.
“The people here are all extremely friendly, and I enjoy visiting Hope’s family and all the staff. It’s a very happy place,” he said.
Looking ahead, Jesse said his game plan depended on what happened in the rugby world and how fixtures were structured post Covid-19. “Until then I’ll be around and working hard to stay in the best shape I can,” he added.
