No stopping Pete as golf competitions get going again
The weather has certainly played the game as well.
Pete Stoppel played to his handicap at Port Shepstone Country Club last Wednesday which was good enough to win the competition on 36 points. Runners-up on 35 points were Paul Geoffery and Gerald Koch.
Last Saturday’s competition was won on 49 points by Dave Mee and Greg Hornby, two ahead of Lionel Peters and Liana Klopper.
Third spot went to Rudi Visagie and Basil King on 45 points. Don’t forget to book for the Beekman & Umthunzi Challenge on Friday, July 31.

* Sandy FitzGerald and Shelly Myers won the women’s competition at Southbroom Golf Club last Saturday on 45 points.
They were one ahead of Rene Matthew and Sue Kupisiewicz.
Tied for third were four pairs on 43 points, namely Werner Duggan and Brian Hoggart, Trevor and Brandon Fisher, Andy Bossard and Urs Diethelm, and Ken and Alex Crawford.
The competition last Saturday saw Bob Carmichael, Brian Hoggart, Werner Duggan and Chris Miller runaway winners on 94 points.
Runners-up were Bob Clark, Peter Volck, Bob and James Thomas on 90 points, followed by Andrew Leckie, Bob O’Callaghan, Ken and Alex Crawford on 88 points.
Geoff Skelton led the way among the Chicken Runners, a total of 66 last Friday, with 22 points.
John Fox and Malcolm Greenland had 21 points, Rene Matthew 20 points, and David Rush, Alex Crawford and Andy Bossard all 19 points.
* Flip Fourie and Joe Espach won the Combined Stableford at Margate Country Club last Saturday on 73 points.
In a tie for second place on 71 points were Angus McLachlan and Frik van Zyl, as well as Ivan Curlewis and Robin Shuttleworth.
