Bowlers return to greens with new status

The new shirts are the result of a sponsorship by Status Panelbeaters to whom the club owes a huge debt of gratitude.

Despite masks, social distancing, sanitising, no tea and worst of all, no after-the-game drinks and chat, the resumption of bowls has been met with great enthusiasm by Umtentweni Bowling Club members.
Everyone looked very smart in their new shirts when play resumed last week Saturday.

Club president Tony Korb thanked Status on behalf of the committee and members.
The clubs prides itself on being a very social one and its quiz evenings, so ably run by Tony Aveyard, are great fun.
Tony is a past master at telling stories, which has everyone in stitches, but they are a learning experience to boot!
Domino and cards evenings have also become popular of late.

It’s these social occasions, besides the actual bowling, that members and friends are all missing during this very trying time.
Tony extended an invitation to anyone interested in playing bowls to join the club.
“It’s a wonderful way of meeting people, getting some exercise and having fun,” he said.
Due to having to limit the number of players in an afternoon, booking is essential.
The following people can be contacted to book your game: Dennis Graham 082 3308794, Jenny Graham 082 2733807 or Karen Delaney 082 3681135.
