Double delight for Mtshaka at Margate CC

Business day at Margate Country Club last Friday attracted a decent field who enjoyed a course in good condition for this time of the year.

Runners-up on 88 points were Dolf Willemse, Wayne Minnaar, Rob Weyer and Graeme Massam.

Third place on 86 points went to André Henn, Rod O’Farrell, Piet Pretorius and Frank Merrill.
Ronnie was in good form the next day, winning the medal on nett 68 off his four handicap.
Second place went to Elvis Khawula on nett 70. B division winner was Rob Weyer on nett 73, three ahead of Joe Espach.
The C division played Stableford and the winner was Angus McLachlan on 34 points, by one from Wayne Minnaar.
In the women’s section, the Saturday competition was won by Maureen Ogilvie, Lexley Lewis and Hannetjie Pretorius.
The women’s combined Stableford on Tuesday this week was won by Hilary Hendry and Hannetjie Pretorius, from Lexley Lewis and Connie McArthur.
* At Southbroom Golf Club, the Roel Germs Trophy played last Wednesday was won by Chris Miller and Paul Lawson on +10, with Clive Miller and Derek James next on +9.
Tied for third on +6 were Marius Santos and Neil Crossey, as well as Werner Duggan and Heinz Seiser.
The alliance last Saturday was won by Roger Hissey, Werner Duggan, John and Dave Fox on 88 points.
Runners-up were Brian Blackstock, Derek James, Bob and James Thomas on 87 points.
Tied for third on 86 points were Gary Godley, Bob O’Callaghan, Ken and Alex Crawford, as well as Sharon Turnbull-Jackson, Della Kempthorne, Lee Mutch and Carol Lamb.
Chicken Run last Friday was won on 19 points by Janet Humphrey, followed by Eileen Neilson and Wynand Botha on 18 points, and then Chris Miller on 17 points.
* At Port Shepstone Country Club the Wednesday Stableford was won on 38 points by John Spencer, one ahead of Phil Myburgh and Peter Stoppel.
The Saturday competition saw Leon Reeders and Chris Boyce claim a win on 47 points, one ahead of George Bowie and Daan Swanepoel on 46 points, with Hans and Marietjie Stols next on 45 points.
It’s business day this Friday (14th), with a betterball this Saturday (15th).
