Track Torque: Hamilton matches Schumacher’s record
Next up is the Portuguese Grand Prix on October 25 at the very competitive Portimao Track in the Algarve.
Lewis Hamilton drove a model race to Eifel Grand Prix victory at the Nuerburgring and put himself in an almost untouchable position for 2020 championship.
The Brit now shares a record 91 wins with the legendary Michael Schumacher.
Max Verstappen, in second place, gave a wonderful display in his much improved Red Bull Honda but just could not catch Hamilton’s Merc.
He crossed the line just four seconds behind the German car and is knocking on the door, for sure.
Also giving a much improved performance was Daniel Ricciardo in the first of the very quick Works Renault cars, earning a very well deserved podium position at the shortened circuit.
In fourth place was the speedy Sergio Perez in his Racing Point Mercedes which next year will become the Aston Martin team.
He was just two seconds behind Ricciardo at the flag.
The McLaren Renault, driven by Carlos Sainz, was only six seconds further back in fifth position.
Fernando Alonso’s return to Grand Prix racing next year in the ever improving Renault could really see the French team up in the front of the pack once again.
Next up is the Portuguese Grand Prix on October 25 at the very competitive Portimao Track in the Algarve and just a week later we return to the super fast and very special Imola Track in Italy where Ayrton Senna so sadly lost his life in 1994.
