Eagles wing it at Umdoni Park
All of the golfers accepted Sir Frank’s gift, as we always do, and say a big thank you to him for having the foresight to create such a wonderful facility for all to enjoy.
Sir Frank Reynolds, who established the Umdoni Forest and had it declared a protected area, referred to his actions as being ‘a gift to the nation’.
It fits then, that, at this festive and giving time of the year, the Village Eagles’ end of year golf day and evening function was held at Umdoni Golf Club, an integral part of the forest.
All of the golfers accepted Sir Frank’s gift, as we always do, and say a big thank you to him for having the foresight to create such a wonderful facility for all to enjoy.
The Village Eagles, along with myself and all of you, have really had to jump through some hoops to make this terrible year a reasonable year.

So, the committee decided that we would go ahead with our year end function and get the golfers and their partners out for an evening of fun and mental repair.
Together with great entertainment, excellent food, the usual top service from the Umdoni Restaurant staff and a few bottles of both red and white fermented grape juice a good time was had by all.
Without the support of the members and partners who attended, the evening would have been a flop so thanks to all of you.
What most golfers did not know was that a fairy was watching over all of us in order to check on any actions that deserved the mandatory fine.
Dressed in her (his) fairy outfit Derek Hodge started the prize-giving off with the usual Hodge humour and the funds of the Eagles were increased substantially.
Thanks to all of the accused for their generosity.

Once again we thank our various and generous sponsors for their support of the Eagles.
Winners on the day were Mike Eley, Geoff Thomassen, Mick Marriot and Mike Wilkinson on an outstanding 100 points.
The best man and best lady trophies both found themselves sharing the same mantelpiece.
Harry and Steffi Podmore were the recipients of the trophies.
The talented quartet of John van Niekerk, Paul Barnett, Sarel Swart and Ted Moffett won the coveted Stone Last Trophy.
The New Year starts with our January game at Umkomaas Golf Club followed a few days later by the AGM.
See all of you Eagles there.
