Wet start to bowls competitions
Jerry Davey did a good job in the men’s section, managing to get an entry of 32 bowlers.
The rain fortunately did not put a damper on the ladies and men’s 2-4-2 competitions, with bowlers clearly happy to be back on the green after the easing of the Covid restrictions.
The support from local clubs AMBC, Hibberdene, Scottburgh and Umkomaas was much appreciated.
Lindy Suter organised an entry filling six rinks in the ladies section where second session was won by Gina George and Nossie Patterson.
Sandy O’Donoghue and Sue Padgett had to settle for the runners-up prize, losing out to the winners Jenny Wadeley and Gay Symons on a count out.

Our teams played well and were competitive but did not go through to the next round in their sections.
Congratulations to AMBC bowlers Brian Navias and Keith Finlay who go through to the next round of section 3.
Sezela bowlers Chris and Engela Wehr, Steve and Linda Stead with Peter Woolcock must be commended for their efforts as part of the ‘Green Warriors’ team who look after our environment.
They are often seen in their green T- Shirts getting their hands dirty.
The Pennington Conservancy does a great job caring for our surrounds.
Peter Woolcock put Mike Lilliman, Alan McLennan and Neil van Zyl, also conservancy stalwarts, through an initial coaching session on Sunday.
Hopefully the bowling bug bites!
