Open day win the ‘Norm’ for Southbroom fourball

The monthly open day at Southbroom Golf Club, sponsored by Nashua, was played as an alliance, with two to count on all holes except par three where it was three to count.

In first place on 99 points were Norman Farrell, Norman Jeffery, John Fox and Don Osbourn.

Three behind were Bruce Matthew, Derrik Matthew, Gavin Sole and Det Wichmann.

Third place went to Chris Huber, Alexandra Huber, Heiner Spoerri and Ursula Spoerri on 95 points.

In the women’s competition the winner was Janet Humphrey on nett 72, three ahead of Rene Matthew and Louise Leal.

The men’s medal winner was Urs Diethelm on nett 69.

Stableford winner was Gurney Mathews on 39 points, followed by Roger Hissey on 38 points, Bo Bergqvist on 37 points, Derrik Matthew on 36 points and Bob Carmichael on 35 points.

The Saturday competition was won by Karen Bridgeford and Lorraine Cook on 48 points, two ahead of John Fox and Bruce Matthew on 46 points, who counted out Gavin and Graham Sole.

Fourth place went to Ken Crawford and Gary Godley on 45 points, who counted out Jim DiMambro and Malcolm Moorley.
