Pam and Hans clinch KBA pairs title

The two Margate sides won their respective games to set up a thrilling final, with Hans and Pam taking the honours.

The Kingfisher Bowling Association Mixed Pairs semi-finals and finals took place at Margate Bowling Club last Sunday.
In the two semi-finals, Eddie Fann and Jane Massam of Port Shepstone CC went up against Hans van der Walt and Pam Cole-Cook of Margate BC, while Franci Philpott and Alan Gibson, also of Margate BC, faced off against Ryan Keys and Daphne Sapsford of The Bell.
The two Margate sides won their respective games to set up a thrilling final, with Hans and Pam taking the honours.
They will now represent the district at the Bowls South Africa Mixed Pairs tournament in Durban later this year.

At Southbroom:
Winning the Mariner’s Open Fours at Southbroom last Thursday were Carl Volker, Derek Shorn, Norman Isherwood and Mike Prinsloo from the Village.
Southbroom teams took the rest of the honours.
Runners-up were Paul Botes, Neale Cary-Smith, André Uitenweerde and Rhett Butler.
First session went to Vernon Clements, Nora Hill, Sue Hatfield and Brent Addison.
Second session went to Richard Moore, Alfred Shusha, Mal Shepperd and Osie Osbourne.
Margate BC’s Franci Philpott, Trixi Smith, Yvonne Bausek and Sandy Ferguson won the inaugural Earth Shed Ladies’ Fours played last Friday.
Runners-up were Pam Cole-Cook, Vi Pels, Katie van der Sandt and Amelia Pieterse of Banners Rest.

At Margate BC:
The Re/Max Deon van Schalkwyk men’s 2-4-2 was won by Lance Marshall and Trevor Prinsloo.
Runners-up were Gary Hess and Derek Schorn.
Session went to Alan Gibson and Trevor Heywood.
50/50 winner was Gerald Enright.
Coming up: March 12 – Hibiscus Brokers Open Trips at 2pm; March 13 – Tabs Trips Competition; March 17 – Quiz Night at 6pm; March 17 – St Patrick’s Day Tabs Competition at 2pm.

At Hibberdene:
The Warwick Drawn Mixed Trips competition held last Friday was won by Albert Munnik, Bob Hayward and Maureen du Toit.
In second place were Eddie Milne, Jim Sutherland and Moira Sutherland.
Session prize went to Bruce Hoyer, Miriam Seager and Alain Lambert.
Next competition is the Nominated Mixed Trips sponsored by Hibberdene Pharmacy this Friday (12th). Play starts at 2pm.

At Port Edward:
Winners of the Saverite Open Trips were Pam and Brian Cole-Cooke with Hazel Delaney from Rob Lyle, Margie Purkiss and Shelley Backhouse.
Session prize went to Mike Gower with Trevor smith and Mark Barnes.
The winner of the monthly Scroungers Cup was Rod Phelps.

At Riverside:
The Chicken & Egg competition, held last Tuesday, was won by Pauline Dunlop, Sharon Smith and Queenie Riley.
Runners-up were Graham Dunlop, Haydn Rowlands and Meisie Kuhn.
