Fred and Gina prove unbeatable
Our men and women’s league teams played away against Riverside and Hibberdene respectively.
Fred Hutchins and Gina George were in magnificent bowls form at AMBC last Friday in winning the mixed 2-4-2 competition, after beating two strong Sezela teams, with a score of 4+37.
The Grumpy Skip (Mally Swanby) was grumpier than ever after being on the receiving end of a thumping by Fred and Gina in the second session.
Well done you two, and thanks Fred for your self-composed victory song.

Runners-up Mike Carr and Bryony D’Oliveira scored 4+16.
Second session was won by Chris Adendorff and Alison Carr, winning on a count out against two other teams.
Sponsors The Shed, Umdoni Park GC restaurant and The Doghouse were acknowledged for their support.
Our men and women’s league teams played away against Riverside and Hibberdene respectively.
Roger Lane, Chris Geyer, Corrie van Aswegen and Mally Swanby came back strongly after being stuck on nine shots, six behind their opposition, after 15 ends.
Playing shorter ends, where Roger excelled in delivering the jack perfectly and drawing well, did the trick for our team to take two shots each on the last six ends to win 21-15.
Jerry Davey’s team lost by nine shots resulting in Riverside winning by three shots on the combined scores to take the bonus point.
Our women’s team had the same result winning one and losing one to take home two points.
After Sunday’s bowls Lindy Suter opened her mouth and put her foot in it by her critical bantering aimed at our bar manager’s selection of popcorn, apparently not salty enough.
Lindy was duly awarded the wooden spoon for Stirrer of the Month.
Congratulations to new member Helen Meyer who was blessed with a second grandchild last week.
Reminder to all bowlers to support Umkomaas Bowling Club’s 47th Sappi/Saicor mixed fours tournament taking place on Saturday, May 8th.
