Kings face Lions in T20 battle

The second semi-final will be played at Port Shepstone CC between perennial rivals Kings CC and Sheppie Lions this Sunday (16th).

After a lengthy break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, cricket has finally gotten going again with the Southern KwaZulu-Natal T20 tournament being played and now reaching the penultimate phase in exhilarating fashion. After a close group stage and quarter-finals, the four teams of Port Shepstone Country Club, Kings Cricket Club, Sheppie Lions CC and Wolfpack battled it out in the semi-finals for a place in the final.

Raja Kazi will be in action for the Kings against the Lions in T20 cricket action this Sunday (16th).

Wolfpack took on Port Shepstone CC in the first semi-final. PSCC lost the toss and was sent in to bat, scoring 170 runs in 20 overs with Brandon Hooke (31), Dirkie Coetzee (33) and Jhean Ludik (46*) the top performers with the bat. For Wolfpack, Meshan Lanka (2/26) and Preston Govender (2/41) did well with the ball. In reply, Wolfpack only managed 120 in 20 overs, despite Rashied Gopal scoring 73*. Saeed Patel was the best bowler with figures of 3/14, helping PSCC book a spot in the final.

Kings captain Aadil Moola said he anticipated some fireworks in this game, with some big players on both sides ready to get the upper hand. “We are looking forward to a good, close game of T20 cricket, with two amazing teams looking to book their spot in next week’s final,” he said.

The match starts at 10am.
