Prize time for Steve Padgett

Bryony D’Oliveira was in the winning team of four, Mally Swanby, Moira Millard, Steve and Linda Stead finished third place, only .5 of a shot behind the runners up.

Sezela Bowling Club’s mixed trips competition, well organised by competition secretary Engela Wehr, was well supported by an entry of 54 bowlers. Runners-up Chris Adendorff, Robert Mnguni and Loretta Holness finished six shots behind the strong AMBC team of Liesje de Rosner, Fred Hutchins and Helen Turk. Second session was won by Steve and Sue Padgett teaming up with Lucas Lindique scoring a massive 2 + 42.

Steve Padgett has been on a winning streak after a slow start, having taken runners-up place in the men’s 2.4.2 competition with Brian Kidd. Steve was ecstatic with being a first time prize winner at his new club.

AMBC’s 44th Anniversary Tournament was a great success and their organisers must be complimented on a well run event. About 20 Sezela bowlers supported this weekend event and thoroughly enjoyed the bowls and the usual camaraderie. Bryony D’Oliveira was in the winning team of four, Mally Swanby, Moira Millard, Steve and Linda Stead finished third place, only .5 of a shot behind the runners up.

Our midweek league team won their first round 23-14. Steve Padgett, in the winning team again, won the second 29-11 with Corrie van Aswegen, Mick Collins and Lucas Lindique.

The Saturday league team fell short again, losing to Banners Rest 2-3. Corrie van Aswegen had an excellent game in the winning team with Mally Swanby, Conrad Smit and John Cryer.

Our survival to stay in this league now lies in how the other clubs fare in the last round.

Sunday’s braai day was another great day at Sezela who had Pam Thomassen bring 11 other ladies, all in the estate agency business, to play some friendly bowls. Thank you Pam for the donation and the prizes which were very much appreciated. Thank you to Brett and Sue Terblanche for sponsoring the Chicken and Egg competition.
The chickens were won by Dave Geils, Dee Kaspersen, Zelda Wood and Ted Moffett. The eggs went to Dave Gibson, Mickey Morrison and Sally Duffy. One full rink of bowlers and the other full with croquette players was a lovely sight at The Friendly Club.
