Great games and new sponsors welcomed

Kevin Riemer, who gave us the approximate birthdate of the Stone, will be reunited with it once we get back to normal.

Thanks to local businesses, Scottburgh Golf Club has two new sponsors on board.

The Ceiling and Cornice DIY store in Park Rynie has donated a set of new flags and our local pharmacy Local Choice in Scott Street is sponsoring our monthly medal.

So, when you are indulging in some DIY and when it’s finished and you’re feeling bushed slip along to the Local Choice for a pick me up or a band aid.

Tony Power was back in business on Wednesday as he recorded 37 points to win the individual Stableford by one over Wayne Simpson on 36 and by three over third placed Denis Brown who got the nod on a count out.

Kevin Riemer, who gave us the approximate birthdate of the Stone, will be reunited with it once we get back to normal.

Staying with birthdays, it was the birthday boys of April, May and June who were the sponsors of Saturdays four ball Alliance.

There were no real changes to Wednesday as Tony Power, Wayne Simpson, Denis Brown and Brian Richards joined them to take the cake with 86 points.

One point adrift were John Mills, Thys Swart, Barry Kisten and Heera Mahabeer who in turn were three ahead of Bob Hall, Mick Marriot, Colin Moodie and Geoff Thomasen on 82.

The hidden holes are proving difficult to find, but Clyde Leisegang and Gary Jones found the putting easy for their 2-clubs.

The captain’s fund will also be a little heavier once Dave Sirey, Anton Visage, Willie Creaney and Graham Brown have also renewed their acquaintance with the Stone.

The matchplay finals have been played and congratulations to the winners: Nivash Mahabeer won the A division, Hilton McAuliffe B division and Pete Morris C division.

Lockdown has been extended by another two weeks so our prizewinners will have to wait a little while longer to spend their vouchers.

We can however, use the halfway house and the restaurant, but only drink non-alcoholic beers and wine. It’ll pass but lets keep vigilant.

Wednesday will be a warm up individual medal for Saturdays monthly medal sponsored by your Local Choice.

Flyer’s footnote: Counting on your opponent to inform you of a penalty he incurred is like expecting him to make fun of his own haircut.
