Oribi Olympian Candice makes top 25

Although she did not achieve the desired outcome, Lill finished in 24th position out of 37 athletes in the race.

Former South Coast and now Cape Town resident Candice Lill finished in the top 25 of the women’s mountain biking (MTB) at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this week.

Having made her first appearance at the 2012 London Olympics, Lill made her return in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Learners at Izotsha Primary also showed their support for the Oribi Olympian by dressing in green and gold in support of Lill, who is a former pupil at the school.

Although she did not achieve the desired outcome, Lill finished in 24th position out of 37 athletes in the race.

She clocked in with a time of 1:26:26, only 10 minutes behind the winner Jolanda Neff of Switzerland.

The total race distance was 20.55km.

The race configuration comprised of a start loop which was 1.3 km, followed by five 3.8km laps.
