It’s crunch time for the Southern KwaZulu-Natal league golf team when they take on Zimbali in a semi-final to be played at San Lameer Country Club. The match will be played over 18 holes singles as Covid has ruled out foursomes for this year.
The team to play is Jason Gilliver (Umdoni Park), Gavin Sole (Southbroom), Jack Cubitt (Umdoni Park), Jan McDermott (Umdoni Park), Chris Zietsman (Selborne Park), Jean-Marc Bouic (Selborne Park – captain), David Rush (Southbroom) and Kai Hielckert (Port Shepstone).
Should they win, Amanzimtoti awaits in the final, to be played at neutral venue Kloof on August 22. Winner of the final gets promoted to the Premier League.
The Skzn Handicap League third round will be played at Selborne Park this Sunday. The hosts face Port Shepstone in a top of the table clash, while Southbroom play Margate, and Umdoni A play their B team.

At Port Shepstone Country Club:
The Wednesday Individual Bonus Bogey was won by Jimmy Parsons on +6, followed by Eddie Fann on +4 and Jenny Hulley on +3.
The Monthly Medal Hulley van Wyk Challenge was played last Saturday.
Individual Stableford was won by Dave Keal on 36 points, by three from Sandi Burger.
The A division was won by Gavin van Wyk on nett 70, with Colin Nel next on nett 72.
In the B division, honours went the way of Dave Mee on nett 70, by two from Louis Klopper.
Bevis Fairbrother won the C division on nett 72, by three from Peter Stoppel.
Best gross was carded by James Coull on 77.
Rob Vogt was the overall mug winner on nett 69.
At Margate Country Club:
The ladies played a medal and putt on August 7.
In first place was Connie McArthur on nett 64, followed closely by Lizzie Meyer with 65 points. In third place was Wondra Bothma on 68 points.
The least amount of putts was shared by Wondra Bothma and Cathy Meyer with 30 putts.
The previous Tuesday, the Alliance was won by Hilary Hendry, Lexley Lewis and Lizzie Meyer on 81 points, by two from Wondra Bothma, Dawn Howden and Sandi Johnston.
The Individual Stableford on August 10 was won by Sandi Johnston with 35 points, followed by Grace Fourie on 32 points.
At Southbroom Golf Club:
Geoff Skelton and Peter Kupisiewicz won the men’s Betterball Stableford last Wednesday on 48 points, by five from Rory O’Donnell and Colin Mckay. Don Osbourn and Bruce Begley came third on 42 points, only one point ahead of fourth place Peter Leeming and Bob Carmichael.
In the women’s section, the Ladies Captains Choice Pairs Multiplier took place with Jeanne Powell and Heleen Hissey finishing in first place on 56 points. Gill Wood and Glynis Hutton were tied for second place with 55 points while Michelle van der Hoek and Lee Mutch were third on 51 points.
Malcolm Greenland and Clive Miller won the Windhoek Pairs betterball at last Saturday on 46 points, by one from Johan Wentzel and Christer Solgevik.
Third place went to Peter Leeming and Bob Carmichael on 43 points.
Chicken Run scores from last Friday – Kevin Feinberg 19 points, Geoff Skelton 18 points, Malcolm Greenland 17 points.
