Herald Fishing: Hard throw, tough tussle for Sibusiso
Using live shad as bait, Mlambo reeled in the 'gas bottle' after a hard fought half an hour battle.
After a morning of frustration and 30 minutes of tussling, Gcilima’s Sibusiso Mlambo, a member of Hardthrow Fishing Club reeled in a 13.4kg tuna at the Margate fishing pier on Monday this week.
Using live shad as bait, Mlambo reeled in the ‘gas bottle’ after a hard fought half an hour battle.
“We worked really hard to get bait. We arrived at the pier earlier in the morning and nothing was biting, so I asked a friend to go with me to Uvongo to get some live shad. We caught four (shad) then we went back to the pier where we attached the pull and sinker,” Mlambo said.
He didn’t have to wait long after casting his bait before there was a tug on his line.
“Within 10 minutes my rod was running and I went for it and got the fish. It was a fight to reel it in but I eventually got it in. Thanks to the Hardthrow members who were with me, I really love and appreciate being a part of the club,” Mlambo said.
