Snooker sponsorship right on cue

Selvin Moodley lost in the knockout stage, with the eventual SA Masters champion coming from Gauteng, in Rafique Limbada.

The Ugu District Snooker Association has received a welcome sponsorship from member Flip Fourie, one of the snooker stalwarts at Margate Country Club.

Although Fourie has not performed in the sport at a national level, he has been playing snooker for over 30 years, and remains committed to making sure that players from the district are represented at the national tournaments.

At the recent SA Masters, JJ Kruger unfortunately bowed out of the competition in the round robin stages, while Selvin Moodley lost in the knockout stage, with the eventual SA Masters champion coming from Gauteng, in Rafique Limbada.

Results from the Grand Prix Pro Circuit Tournament held in Durban in late September saw Kruger make it to the last 16, while Moodley lost in the quarterfinals to eventual winner Charl Jonck from Gqeberha.

The SA singles and doubles championships is set to take place The Wanderers Club in Johannesburg, starting this Saturday.
