Aces, smiles served at refurbished tennis courts
A big thank you goes to Hibiscus Retirement Villages Society for the part they have played in getting things done.
The Alexandra Memorial Tennis Club (AMTC) was set up a long time ago in Umzinto.
The name comes from Alexandra County of which Umzinto was the capital. Together with the bowls club, the AMTC was moved to the Umdoni Retirement Village some years ago, but retains the status of being a club that is open to all.

The name Umzinto comes from the Zulu term “umenzi wezinto” which means the kraal (or place) of accomplishment. It is then fitting to say that the re-surfacing of the two courts at the AMTC has been accomplished.
After slipping and sliding on the old courts, the first games played on the new surfaces saw members serving up big smiles.
Weather did play a role in keeping the courts out of action for some four weeks, but everybody agreed that the wait was more than worth it.

As has already been said AMTC is an open social club and new members are more than welcome. If you would like to play tennis, contact committee member Marcus Lucarne on 063 6329843, and he will gladly point you in the right direction.
