Yellowtail catch for early riser Kishan

On arrival and just before first light, he began to rig up his Makaira 15.6ft and metaloid 90s rod.

Port Shepstone local Kishan Nankoomar caught a yellowtail last weekend, after he decided to venture out at 3am to a local spot on the South Coast.

On arrival and just before first light, he began to rig up his Makaira 15.6ft and metaloid 90s rod.

Within 15 minutes of having cast his bait, Nankoomar felt a bite on his line.

Ganson Reddy caught and released this marvellous spotted sandshark at Sandspit.

“It felt like a shad, I was a little bit annoyed, so I decided to leave my bait in the water. Within two minutes I felt a hard bump and then the reel started spinning, I set the hook and it was game on. This fish gave me a lot of hassles in the front but I kept my cool and was persistent to land it” Kishan said.

Using a mackerel as his bait of choice, he reeled in the yellowtail

Meanwhile, Ganson Reddy of Marburg caught a spotted sandshark that weighed 45kg at Sandspit. It took him less than hour to land, and it was safely released.
