San Lameer CC’s President’s Cup goes to Maritha

Golf general manager Pierre van Vuuren was thrilled with the turnout.

San Lameer Country Club’s President’s Cup was a major success, much like the preceding week’s club championships.

There was a stunning field of 147 players, making it the best attended President’s Cup to date.

Golf general manager Pierre van Vuuren was thrilled with the turnout.

He thanked those who played and congratulated the winners on the day.

The format for the day was a more forgiving Stableford, compared to strokeplay for club champs and scores were good, an indication of the superb condition of the course.

The Cup must be won by a member and that honour went to Maritha de Beer on 38 points.

Peter Karemaker had the most points with 40, with four players having 38 points.

There were, in order after the countout had been applied, Queenie Steyn, Nelis de Bruin Sr, Maritha de Beer and Hanelie Brink.

Next, in sixth place on 37 points was Nelis de Bruin Jr, counting out Kobus de Lange.

Riana Karemaker claimed eighth spot on 36 points, counting out Danie van der Post and Samir Bham.

Nearest the pins were: Willem Geldenhuys (4th), Henk Moller (9th), Johan Geldenhuis (14th) and Gerhard van Zyl (16th).
