Golf news to the tee

SOUTHBROOM
The Ladies Alliance took place last Wednesday at the club, and was won by Jo Ledden, Janet Humphrey, Heather Anderson and Shelley Myers on 83 points, one point clear of second placed Heleen Hissey, Di Morris, Allyson Thomas and Rene Matthew who ended on 82 points
The Men’s Alliance was won by Don Osbourn, Graham Sole, Vic Pretorius and Andrew Wager on 83 points, followed by second placed Doug Butcher, Heiner Hedtrich, Keith Bailey and Brian Richards on 81 points. Gary Purtell, Phil Verwey, Peter Volck and Martin Hutton rounded off the top three with 81 points respectively.
The betterball Stableford then took place last Saturday. In a closely contested outing, Roger Hissey and Dave Page’s 46 points saw them claim top spot. A count out between Malcolm Greenland and Anton Leal, versus Shelley Myers and Janet Humphrey was needed to determine second and third place respectively after finishing on 45 points each.
Gavin and Graham Sole finished fourth on 44 points ahead of Howard Kelly and John Kirby (43 points) to round off the top five.
Irene Schanda and Ghost ended on 43 points in sixth, while Malcolm Moorley and Jim Dimambro finished seventh on 41 points
In the chicken run, Steel Le Roux’s 21 points saw him finish first followed by second placed Keith Bailey (19 points) and third placed Nic Van Deventer (18 points)
Arlene Bailey finished fourth on a count out of 17 points, ahead of Malcolm Greenland who also ended on 17 points.
PORT SHEPSTONE
Last Wednesday’s betterball Stableford was won by Gerald Koch and Peter Howard on 43 points. With only two points separating first and third spot, Charles and Jenny Hulley’s 42 points, saw them edge out Victor Lamont and Dave Mee who ended their campaign on 41 points.
Next was the Halfway Ford business day last Friday. Ryan Ringo, Collis Taylor, Kevin Rowlands and Ghost finished on 91 points in first place while a count out was needed for second place which went the way of Eddie Ringo, John Beekman, Jesse Verster and Ghost on a count out of 87 points, ahead of Piet Fourie, Jaco van der Walt, George Nagel and Zander Coetzee.
The D’arcy Dental monthly mug then took place last Saturday. Winning the Individual Stableford was Roly Shaw on 31 points and Jenny Hulley (29 points) in second place.
Sydney Shingange’s 74 nett saw him win the A division, one point ahead of Paul Geoffery who finished second on 75 nett.
A 72 nett was enough for Daan Swanepoel to win the B division, followed by Wellington Mkhize on 74 nett. While Tinus Pretorius (72 nett) won the C division ahead of runner-up Louis Klopper (77 nett).
The best gross went to Gavin van Wyk (80 gross o.c.o) with Graham Dickson (71 nett) who walked away as the mug winner.
