Deborah Berridge was also one of the day's top performers, winning the 50-59 age group, and finishing in the top 10 amongst the women who competed.

After almost two years of no athletics due to Covid-19, the South Coast Striders Athletics Club (SCSAC) participated in the first official race on the KZN Athletics (KZNA) calendar in Scottburgh last Sunday.

The event started and finished at the local golf course with entries open to 500 participants, and offered a 21km and 10km course which was hosted by the Scottburgh Athletics Club.

Brino ‘Peter’ Chidzungu (left) finished first in the 40-49 year age group and second overall, and Sanele Wayise during the Scottburgh half marathon.

Thirty runners from SCSAC participated in both events.

The club did very well and it was evident when Brino ‘Peter’ Chidzungu finished first in the 40-49 year age group, and second overall, behind Mathanga Mbuleli who is ranked third in the country in half marathons.

Deborah Berridge was also one of the day’s top performers, winning the 50-59 age group, and finishing in the top 10 amongst the women who competed.
