Championship volleyball returns on massive scale
Now, after a very long wait, this championship is set to rival Blue Vine.
The South Coast is full of excitement in anticipation of the forthcoming Port Shepstone Volleyball Outdoor Championship, to be held at Marburg Sports Complex on March 19 and 20.
More than two decades ago, the Blue Vine tournament was held in Port Shepstone, which at the time boasted a massive R40 000 in prize-money.
This tournament saw teams from all around the country flock to the coast in an effort to get their hands on a piece of the prize.
Now, after a very long wait, this championship is set to rival Blue Vine.
Prizemoney of a whopping R100 000 has been generously sponsored by various businesses and individuals, both locally and around the country – these are people who are keen on helping grow the sport.
This massive amount of prize money will be split between the male and female sections in what is set to be one the biggest volleyball tournaments witnessed in the region.
With KwaZulu-Natal registered teams from all over the province expected to take part, it is shaping up to be some spectacle.
All proceeds from team entry fees will be split between the Port Shepstone Volleyball Association and the development and maintenance of Hope Park, in the Umbango conservancy.
Digital Skills Africa, a non-profit establishment set up to reignite hope through digital skills, will be onsite to showcase technology labs built in schools and offer registration to free certified technology courses.
There will also be fundraising done on the weekend for various other charity organisations.
Stalls are also available at R500 per stall for the entire weekend.
This is a huge marketing opportunity for local businesses as there will be players and spectators from many different regions
Contact Elton Pillay (PRO) on 082 384 5449 if you are interested in putting up a stall, or if you have a team registered with KZN Volleyball and want to play.
