Calling all rugby league legends

A black tie event is planned later this year in the Old Castle in Cape Town.

A desperate search is on to contact the last living members of the Springbok Rugby League side who toured Australia and New Zealand almost 60 years ago, and for the families of those South African players who joined rugby league clubs in England during the late 1940s.

A black tie event is planned later this year in the Old Castle in Cape Town.

“The idea of a black tie event to commemorate these pioneers and legends of rugby leagues past, comes a long way, as far as 2009,” said Willem-Jan Prinsloo, organiser of the event and former Springbok Rugby League player from the 1960s.

The names of every league legend will be read and will find a place in the Hall of Fame of Rugby League South Africa.
