Rugby Warriors off to solid start
Forwards man of the match was Josh Walden (flank) and backline Zaiden de Heer (fullback).
The South Coast Warriors Rugby Club traveled to Woodburn Stadium to take on Maritzburg Rugby Club last Friday.
After a grueling, three and a half hour drive from the coast to Pietermaritzburg (after the floods) there was little time to warm up for the second team, who played first.
Despite this, they put in a solid effort but were not able to convert the good play into points and ended up losing 12-0.
Forwards man of the match was Josh Walden (flank) and backline Zaiden de Heer (fullback).
Better things were to come and the first team got their season in the 1st Division off to the perfect start, getting an away win, 26-14, with a bonus point.

In what was a fast and physical game, the Warriors conceded two tries, one at the end of each half.
But they dominated most of the rest of the game, running in four tries.
These were scored by Daryn Nyman (2), Graeme Bester and Tiaan van Staden, with three of them converted by Nyman.
Men of the match were Jade Nyman (tight-head prop) and Graeme Bester (scrumhalf).
The next fixture is against Jaguars RC this Friday night.

WHO CAN HELP?
Warriors chairman Niko Potgieter has put a call out for assistance in a time where it’s difficult to secure sponsors.
If there is anyone who is able to assist the club with their field floodlights, in terms of sponsoring lights and helping install – Niko’s not that keen to scale the masts, due to love of heights (not). If so, contact Niko on 082 4617139.
