U20s soak up another victory

The visitors replied with a second penalty to make the score 7-6 at halftime, in favour of the home team.

Another wet Saturday afternoon at the Genesis youth centre rugby ground, another victory for the Southern KwaZulu-Natal U20 rugby team.

They defeated UKZN Durban 31-6 on a day where most were curled up under blankets in lounges watching TV as more rain pelted down.

The U20s ran in three late tries in the last 15 minutes of the game, securing a bonus point win in the process.

It was their second consecutive win at home, following last week’s defensive heroics against College Rovers.

Excitement from the team after their win.

The home team opened their scoring with a well executed try by Rowan Simon, after trailing by three points.

The visitors replied with a second penalty to make the score 7-6 at halftime, in favour of the home team.

With the weather not conducive to good, running rugby, the home team still managed to hold on to the ball and delivered some great excellent play in the final quarter to score three more tries and secure a well deserved bonus point win.

Man of the match for the backline was Rowan Simon, who scored twice with some individual brilliance.

The man of the match for the forwards went to prop Roy Mchunu.

Captain of SKZN, Manelisi Ngubane wins the toss.

The final try scored by eighth man Siyanda Mathenjwa.

The rest of the points came from the boot of Dillon van der Merwe.

SKZN host Harlequins at the Genesis field this Saturday, with kick-off at 15:00. It should be another exciting match.
