SKZN U20s run rampant against Harlequins

In the end the referee cut the game short with 10 minutes still remaining as the home side ran out 103-10 winners, scoring 15 tries.

It’s not often a team chalks up 100 plus points in a rugby game but it happened when the Southern KwaZulu-Natal U20 team hosted Harlequins in their Frank Norris Cup encounter at the Genesis field in Port Shepstone last Saturday.

In the end the referee cut the game short with 10 minutes still remaining as the home side ran out 103-10 winners, scoring 15 tries.

There was some sympathy for Harlequins as they’ve been bumped up to the A division this year.

Despite the overwhelming score-line, and seeing two teammates require medical care, they still showed courage, fighting back a bit in the second half with two tries.

Southern KZN now tops the log with UKZN and College Rovers drawing and have shown remarkable improvement since their heavy defeat in the opening round of fixtures.

Tries were scored by Rowaan Simon (4), Marvin van der Merwe (3), Manelisi Ngubane (2), Stryda Perry (2), with one each from Dillon van der Merwe, Jordan Curtis, Lina Mahlate and Seluleko Zulu.
