Handicap league heads to Southbroom GC
The men's competition was won by Andy Bossard and Bo Bergqvist on 46 points, by one from Chris Miller and Gerald FitzGerald.
Southbroom Golf Club will host the opening round of the Southern KwaZulu-Natal Handicap League on June 12.
The team, in no particular order, comprises Gary Purtell, Nicky Smith, Grant Richards, Cameron Olivant, Cyprian Xolo, Simon Shusha, Rupert Niebuhr and Brian Jolliffe.
The match was supposed to have been played on May 22 but was rained out.
In the women’s section, the competition last Wednesday was won by Louise Leal and Jill Webster on 39 points, two ahead of Sue Kupisiewicz and Sandy FitzGerald.
The men’s competition was won by Andy Bossard and Bo Bergqvist on 46 points, by one from Chris Miller and Gerald FitzGerald.
In third place on 43 points were Malcolm Greenland and Derek Pieterse, with Matthew brothers Derrik and Bruce next on 41 points, one ahead of Roger Hissey and Roy Deakins.
Saturday’s competition, an alliance, was won on 87 points by Sandy FitzGerald, Lynn Blackstock, Shelley Myers and Jeanette Peyios.
Two behind on 85 points were Roger Hissey, Mike Lig, Jim DiMambro and Malcolm Greenland.
Third place went to Ant Hughes, Jurie Matthee, Bob Thomas and Anton Kohrmann on 84 points, counting out Derick Oelofse, Andy Bossard, Pierre van der Walle and Chris Miller.
Fifth place went to Russell Mackenzie, Mark Burnett, Christer Solgevik and Werner Duggan on 83 points.
