Full course reopens at Umkomaas GC

The A Division was won by Noel Parsonage who played very good golf, finishing with a two-better-than-par 68 nett. Runner-up on 69 nett was Blaise Towell.

Sixty-two players competed in the monthly medal competition at Umkomaas last Saturday.

After a couple of weeks’ rehabilitation, to allow the water to recede on some holes, the full course was opened. Judging by the excellent scores once again and the many compliments received about the course conditions, and the greens particularly, it is safe to say that our course must be one of the best around now.

In the Ladies Division, Max van den Heever won both the Bronze Division and was awarded the Medal Glass.

The B Division was where things heated up with a count-out deciding the winner on a four-better-the-par 66 nett. In the end Mark Bezencon pipped Dave Kemp, to not only win the division but take the Halfway Malanda Monthly Mugg as well.

The C Division was won on a nett 70 by Ian Reid, and Willy Boucher’s 71 nett saw him take second place.

In the Ladies Divisions, it was Max van den Heever who followed the trend playing to her handicap and posting a par for the course nett 73. She won both the Bronze Division and was awarded the Medal Glass as well. Silver Division was won by Heather Parsonage on 76 nett.
