Knockouts win domestic T20 cricket league final

With some help from the lower order, Knockouts managed to post 121 for eight.

Knockouts Cricket Club beat Port Shepstone Country Club by 22 runs in the Domestic League T20 Cricket Final at Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday.

PSCC won the toss and elected to field. The bowling was extremely tight and at the halfway mark Knockouts were in deep trouble at 40 for four, until Ayaz Zabiya walked in to bat and smashed a quickfire 32.

With some help from the lower order, Knockouts managed to post 121 for eight.

For PSCC the pick of the bowlers were Rowan Schoeman and Saeed Patel.

In reply, PSCC stuttered the entire innings, ending way short of the target with a score of 99 for six in their 20 overs.

Abdullah Dhudhat kept things extremely tight for Knockouts as did Zainul Otlavala who took three for 16 as the top bowler in the match.

Brandon Hooke scored 28 not out but PSCC just couldn’t score boundaries during their innings.

Knockouts won the final by 22 runs. Captain Ashraf Mulla said that he was extremely proud of his team and that “their amazing team spirit is what helped them win the competition this year”.

The Player of the Season award went to Abdullah Dhudhat (Knockouts).
